laduree

so i finally went to laduree! this was number one on my “things i must do in paris” list. and yes, that list includes climbing the eiffel tower. even though they just opened up a shop on the upper east side (woohoo!), i’m glad i got my first taste of this legendary parisian patisserie where it was founded.

unfortunately, they don't let you take pictures inside(you know i would if they did). but i bought 8 macarons- chocolate, raspberry (you know, for color), pistachio, coffee, vanilla, columbian chocolate, and two salted caramels. oh boy was i a happy girl walking through the streets with my pale green laduree bag.

pistachio, salted caramel, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, colombian cchocolate, salted caramel, raspberry

so what did i think?

vanilla- so much better than you expect a simple flavor like vanilla to be. the filling is different, really creamy but light at the same time. melts like a cloud in your mouth. heavenly.

coffee- quite good. had better flavor and consistency than the other coffee one i've tried.

raspberry- not bad for a fruit. its filling was like a jam/preserves type deal.

colombian chocolate- rich ganache filling was nice and thick.

salted caramel- just may be the best macaron i've ever had. does this come in jumbo size? (*yes, it does) the filling was actual caramel and the consistency of when you bite into it is perfection- delicate enough for macaron standards, but dense enough for mine.

pistachio- more of a whipped filling with bits of nuts; did not taste green. would get this again.

chocolate- again delicious. great filling.

second caramel- just as awesome as the first. even on the second day.

nom.
